Inspired by 18th century Chelsea Porcelain tureens that were naturalistically modeled as the then exotic fruits and vegetables (such as melons, pineapples, and broccoli), I sought to immortalize the ultimate modern day luxury food item. Truffles are one of the last food products that are better foraged, not farmed, and are truly consumed in sync with the seasons. Intrigued by its complexity and beauty, I developed a glaze that mimics the intricate patterning and applied it to naturalistically modeled truffle forms.
